Henry Adams is a Director and co-founder of Common Capital. He has extensive experience delivering successful public-sector projects and is passionate about effective public policy.
Henry has 17 years commercial and government experience in public policy and business strategy. He is also a recognised national expert in energy efficiency market-based policy instruments. He brings both outstanding technical skills and the deep practical experience across a broad range of policy and industry issues.
While in Government, Henry played leading roles in the policy development, approvals implementation and reviews of over $1.2 billion in clean energy programs. He brings the hard-learned practical lessons from successful initiatives, and just as importantly from those that fell short or were not approved.
- Principal policy architect of the $800 million NSW Energy Savings Scheme, a trading scheme to increase energy productivity and reduce pollution in NSW.
- Leading NSW policy and contractual negotiations for the $150 million Solar Flagships Program which successful built the largest solar power stations in the southern hemisphere in Nyngan and Broken Hill.
- Managing the policy development, negotiations and cabinet approval of over $300 million in programs under the NSW Energy Efficiency Strategy and Energy Efficiency Action Plans.
Issue and service expertise
Henry’s strategy experience covers strategic planning, process re-design, cost saving, building staff capability and merger and integration engagements for clients in the retail banking, insurance, Information technology, telecommunications, industrial products, research and government sectors.
The issues Henry has worked on cover energy, energy efficiency, climate change, carbon trading, renewable energy, social exclusion, innovation policy aboriginal cultural heritage, pollution control, radiation, forestry, biodiversity, and environmental planning and assessment. His policy experience covers strategic policy and economic analysis and briefings to support Ministerial and Cabinet Decisions, through to detailed operational policy and program evaluations.
Prior to co-founding Common Capital Henry managed the energy efficiency and renewable energy policy branch
of the NSW office of environment and heritage.
He previously held a range of policy and project roles in the NSW environment department, and UK Neighbourhood Renewal Unit. He has worked and a Policy Advisor to the NSW Minister for Environment and Climate Change, and as a Business Strategy Consultant with IBM.
